Websites for therapists and counselors

A therapist's website has one job: help the right client feel safe enough to reach out. That means a calm, fast site that says who you help and how, shows fees and insurance plainly, and links to your practice system's secure booking instead of collecting clinical details in a contact form. A Starter practice site costs US$800 – 1,200; a custom site US$800 – 1,800.

What a therapist's website needs

  • A clear first line: who you work with (couples, teens, anxiety, trauma) and how (in person, telehealth, both)
  • Your approach in plain language, your credentials and license, and a real photo
  • Fees, sliding scale, insurance accepted or superbills, and how to start
  • A link to your practice-management system's secure booking or client portal
  • A free consultation call option, and response times
  • Crisis information: in the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline); 911 for emergencies

Privacy: what to keep off the website

Keep clinical details out of ordinary website forms and email: a general contact form should ask only for a name, contact details and preferred time. Intake forms, scheduling and messages belong in a secure system built for health information. Be cautious with advertising pixels and detailed analytics on pages about specific conditions, and check your setup with your compliance advisor.

Getting found by local clients

  • A page for each specialty and each location or telehealth state you serve
  • Google Business Profile with the same name, address and phone as the site
  • Directory profiles you already use (e.g. therapist directories) linking to your site
  • Fast mobile pages; most first visits happen on a phone
  • Accessible design, so clients using screen readers or zoom can book
